It’s Good For You is a catering and special event business specializing in traditional wood-fired pizza. Our philosophy is simple: food tastes better when you understand the story behind it. We strive to incorporate the who, what, when, and why into what we serve by cooking with quality ingredients sourced from Italy or direct from our local farmers and producers, bringing our food into the community to form connection, and elevating the talent behind great cuisine.
In 2011, Alessando Monachello and Chris Guglielmo began frequenting Red Sushi for an after-work bite, with Alessandro coming from his shift at Osteria Papavero and Chris from the hospital. Although the Italian and the New Jersey transplant didn’t appear to have much in common on the surface, they quickly discovered a shared passion for good food — the key ingredient to a lifelong friendship.
Five years later, Alessandro stumbled upon a manufacturer of mobile wood-fired ovens. A lightbulb went off. A native of Palermo Sicily, Alessando grew up in a country home with wood-fired ovens — he knew he could translate his skills working with these ovens into a business making pizza. With Chris on board to help run the operation, It’s Good For You was born.
The catering business developed a cult following throughout Madison, serving up pizza at farmers markets, food festivals, breweries, and more. After six years in operation, It’s Good For You expanded to a commercial kitchen in 2022, offering customers the opportunity to order pizzas for takeaway.
